You Asked, We Built: What's New in Chessalyz (Spring 2026 Updates)
Dark mode, coach sharing, more free analyses, and a bunch of bug fixes
This guest post is written by my co-founder Varun Kumar. Varun is the technical mind behind Chessalyz.ai. He builds the features and squashes the bugs while I focus on the chess side. Today he's walking you through everything we shipped this month, from the long-awaited dark mode to a brand new way to share games with your coach.

This month, we focused primarily on user experience - fixing the bugs that frustrated you, building features you asked for, and making the platform more intuitive and enjoyable to use. From highly-requested dark mode to a complete overhaul of our analysis system, every change was driven by your input.

Late-night analysis sessions? Your eyes will thank you. Prefer darker themes? Now you have it everywhere - chess board, game library, analysis panels, coaching, all of it.

This isn’t just pretty - it’s designed to reduce eye strain during long sessions. Analyze as long as you want, comfortably.

You asked for a more predictable way to analyze your games. We listened.
What This Means for You
The Problem: You had a one-time token grant, and once it ran out, analyzing felt restrictive. It was hard to know how much you really had to work with.
The Solution: Now, every user gets 5 fresh game analyses every single month - completely free, no tokens needed. Your analysis budget resets monthly, so you always know what you have to work with.
Plus, you still keep your tokens (10,000 on signup) as a backup for when you need extra analyses beyond your monthly quota.

How It Works for You
It’s simple and designed to be flexible:
1. Use Your Free Monthly Quota Each month, you automatically get fresh analyses (5 for free users, more if you upgrade). These cost you nothing - no tokens, completely free.
2. Never Get Stuck Run out of your monthly quota? No problem. The system seamlessly switches to using your tokens (1,000 per analysis). You can keep analyzing without interruption.
3. Build Your Token Bank Every analysis you complete earns you 500 tokens back. This means:
Free quota analyses → you’re banking 500 tokens for later
Token analyses → you only pay 500 net (earn back half)
4. Fresh Start Every Month Your quota resets monthly on your signup anniversary. The ticker at the top always shows how many analyses you have left and when you’ll get more.
What This Means for Your Chess Improvement
You get the best of both worlds:
Know what you have - No more guessing if you can afford to analyze. You know exactly what’s available each month.
Never hit a wall - Busy month with lots of games? Your tokens are there as backup.
Keep improving - Complete analyses, earn tokens back, build reserves for the future. Your progress compounds.

Click “Chessalyz with me!” and the analysis starts immediately. The model now preloads the game in the background, so you’re waiting much less and for a predictable time.

Hundreds of games? No problem. Filtering and browsing is now instant - we moved the heavy lifting to our servers. Plus, your filter settings save in the URL, so you can bookmark your favorite views or share them with others.
✅ Share Any Position
Found a critical moment you want to discuss? Copy the URL and send it. The link opens directly to that exact position - perfect for asking your coach or getting feedback from friends.
🐛 A lot less annoying: Several bugs fixed
You reported issues, we fixed them. Here’s what’s better now:
✅ No More Confusing “Chessalyz with me!” loops
What you told us: “I click on “Chessalyz with me!”, but it doesn’t work.”
What you get now: Clear, helpful messages that explain the situation. When you win easily because your opponent made a big mistake, we tell you that’s what happened - and the analysis completes successfully. No more cryptic errors stopping your workflow.
✅ Downloads Actually Work Now
What you told us: “Download links are broken. Downloaded file was not getting imported to lichess”
What you get now: Every download works, every time. Click download, get your game - with proper file names, in the format you want. We rebuilt the entire system and added tests so this won’t break again.
Sorry this took so long to fix. We know how frustrating this was.

What you told us: “The game result is wrong but I can’t change it.”
What you get now: You’re in control. Edit any game and update the result yourself. Wrong import? Unusual termination? Just fix it. Your library, your rules.

Option to bypass duplicates when you know what you’re doing
Clear error messages that tell you exactly what went wrong

Hey Dalton. I got an email today telling me about the new updates for Chessallyz and was excited to see the Flashcard feature. I jumped in immediately and the first thing I noticed is that on my mobile device (another cool thing that you added) it's hard to make moves. You have to drag the piece where you want it to go.
I am no programer so maybe this would be difficult but especially for the mobile application can you allow for touch move? What I mean is you touch the piece you want to move and then touch where you want it to move? Maybe you could highlight the piece you touched so you know which you have selected.
I found myself having trouble moving pieces and resorted to trying it again on my computer.
